Moore joined Ball State University in 1976 when he finished his studies at Harrison High School. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.

In 1980, Moore’s career started at WTVW Channel 7 where he was a general assignment reporter. Originally, he wanted to broadcast sports, and in 1981, he started serving the station as a weekend sports anchor. A year later, he was promoted to sports director.
In 1990, WTVW promoted Moore to evening anchor after his popularity grew in the market. In this role, he spearheaded the station’s reporting of each major story for 3 decades including the 911 terror attacks, the visit of Pope John Paul II, Timothy McVeigh’s execution, the crash of a C-130 into a hotel and restaurant, and a ruinous tornado that tore through parts of Kentucky and Indiana claiming the lives of 25 people.
Following his time at WTVW, Moore joined WEHT/WTVW in Evansville, Indiana as a daybreak anchor for 2 years. During his career, he has won nearly all awards recognizing excellence in TV news including a national Murrow and multiple regional Emmys and Murrows. Additionally, he won many other awards including those from the Associated Press and the Indiana Broadcasters Association.
In 2018, Moore served as an inductee of the Indiana AP Broadcasters Association [APBA] Hall of Fame. The previous year, he joined the Evansville Ball Hall of Fame for his work broadcasting youth sports. Numerous times, he has been voted Evansville’s favorite TV news personality.
Community Service
Away from journalism, Moore has been a member of NATAS Ohio Valley and NPPA. In this role, he regularly taught courses at the local universities and returned to Ball State to mentor future journalists. In 2012, he won Ball State University granted him the TCOM Alumnus of the Year award.
Active in the community, Moore has given back to it by serving causes as a board member of the Evansville Dance Theater, the Friends of Bosse Field, the Masonic Learning Center (dyslexia), and One Book, One Community. For over 2 decades, he has hosted the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
In collaboration with his first wife, Anna, Moore, founded the Evansville chapter of Gilda’s Club, now known as Cancer Pathways Midwest. They started the club when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After she died, he finished the work they began. Currently, Cancer Pathways Midwest supports hundreds of people living at each stage of cancer and their families and friends.

Before Lisa, Moore had married Anna. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2006. After her diagnosis, she unsuccessfully tried to find a support group in the area for people with a similar ailment. Thus, she and Moore collaborated to found the nonprofit, the Evansville chapter of Gilda’s Club, now known as Cancer Pathways Midwest. Unfortunately, she passed away due to pancreatic cancer in 2009 before the club was officially opened.
