Richard Gearhart is an American journalist working for KSBY as co-anchor of the evening newscasts since January 2018. He joined the station in July 1990 as a reporter and weather anchor. Since 2006, he has served Cal Poly State University as an associate professor.

Desaree underwent a failed clinical trial and one surgery to treat the disease. The chemotherapy and radiation procedure negatively impacted her body like her memory. Thus, her husband and sons installed a blackboard in the kitchen that listed family tasks that she used to remember before chemotherapy clouded her memory. Gearhart, Hayden, and Jack adjusted so that she could get more rest while undergoing treatment.
