Rickey Smiley is an American stand-up comedian, actor, TV host, and radio personality famous for his prank phone calls where he disguises voices and holds a conversation with the recipient of the call. He hosts Rickey Smiley Morning Show. Additionally, he works as a featured columnist for FOX’s Dish Nation. Since 2015, he has starred in Rickey Smiley For Real which follows his life.

Smiley hosted the 2000 season of BET’s ComicView. Further, he has made appearances on Showtime at the Apollo, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, The Nashville Network, HBO’s Snaps, Uptown Comedy Club, and Comic Escape. During his early career, he did authentic comedy routines that regularly featured the role-play of invented personalities like Bernice Jenkins/Granny Swims/Ms. Johnson/Mrs. Francis, Rusty Dale, Lil’ Daryl, and Beauford.

Smiley started working as a morning show personality for radio station KBFB in Dallas, Texas in April 2004. On the show, he made his signature prank calls and delivered news, information, and the most recent hip-hop music. In 2008, he signed a contract with Syndication One to make the show countrywide. Thus, the show can be heard on several mainstream urban and urban adult contemporary radio stations.

Aside from TV and radio, he has published various funny songs founded on his bits like “Roll Tide” featuring Buford(his redneck personality) and “We Miss Robert.” He starred in Ice Cube’s Friday After Next and All About the Benjamins where he starred in a deleted role that can be accessed in DVD’s special features.

Brandon passed away on January 29, 2023, at the age of 32 due to suicide. He was found unconscious in his flat in Birmingham. He killed himself by ingesting mixed drugs including fentanyl. Smiley said that he got news of his son’s death through Brandon’s younger sister living in Atlanta. Further, he said that he and his mother, Brenda, had tried to get him the necessary help. Additionally, he said that they had noticed some changes which made them think he was getting better. Brandon had started attending church and had been re-baptized a month prior to his death. Brandon left a daughter named Storm when he died.

On July 6, 2020, he announced that Aaryn was shot thrice during a road rage event the prior weekend at a traffic light in Houston. At the time, she was driving to Whataburger to get food at night. He shared several updates sharing her recuperation but he couldn’t visit her due to the pandemic. She was shot in both of her legs, underwent two surgeries, and had several blood transfusions. She said that she has PTSD and anxiety attacks when she’s near a red light due to the incident.

On June 23, 2023, she shared that she would graduate from Baylor University with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a concentration in Speech Pathology on August 12th of that year.
