Rob Perillo is an American Emmy Award-Winning Meteorologist working for KATC-TV in Lafayette serving as a chief meteorologist. Previously, he served as a chief meteorologist at KLFY-TV in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Rob Perillo Education
After graduating from high school, Rob attended the State University of New York at Oswego in 1979 where he graduated with a minor in physics and Math and a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 1983. In 1992, he was honored with the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for Television Weathercaster. In college, Perillo worked for nuclear power plants where he served as an Emergency Planning Meteorologist. On top of this, he also serves as a manager researcher at Campus Research Foundation.

Perillo works as a chief meteorologist at KATC-TV in Lafayette, Louisiana. He has been with the station for more than two decades since he joined in January 2004. Besides this, Rob also serves as a climate analyst and expert meteorologist in forensic and marine meteorology for TVWeatherCast LLC in Lafayette. He joined the station in August 1985 where he has been working for more than 38 years.
During his tenure at KATC-TV, Perillo has covered hundreds of weather events including hurricanes Laura, Gustav, Katrina, Andrew, Ike, Lili, and tropical storms. For his work, he has been honored with multiple awards including the prestigious awards, Emmy Award, and 25 Associated Press awards, such as “Breaking Weather”. In 2020, Rob was nominated by the National Tropical Weather Conference to be the “Broadcaster of the Year”.
He started his broadcasting career at KLFY-TV working as a chief meteorologist from July 1988 to December 2004. Previously, Rob worked for Wilkens Weather Technologies where he served as an Aviation Forecaster for Air Routing International and industrial meteorologist. Throughout his career, he was interviewed by various channels such as The Daily Show and the perspectives of TV meteorologists.
In addition to this, Perillo has also been featured on multiple weather specials that have aired on the National Geographic, Discovery, and Weather Channels. In 2003, he covered live broadcasts and videotaped for various channels such as CNN, CBS, and BBC.
