Rob Reiner Biography
Rob Reiner is an American actor, director, producer, and writer best known for his role as Michael Stivic on All in the Family (1971–1979), a role that earned him two Emmy Awards during the 1970s.
As a director, Reiner was recognized by the Directors Guild of America (DGA) with nominations for the coming of age comedy-drama film Stand by Me (1986), the military courtroom drama A Few Good Men (1992) and the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally… (1989).
Reiner also directed the romantic comedy fantasy adventure The Princess Bride (1987), the psychological horror-thriller Misery (1990), and the heavy metal mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap (1984).
Rob Reiner Age
He was born on March 6, 1947 in The Bronx, New York City, NY, United States. He is 76 years old as of 2023.
Rob Reiner Height
Reiner stands at a height of 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Rob Reiner Family
Reiner is the son of Estelle Reiner (née Lebost; 1914–2008), an actress, and Carl Reiner (born 1922), a renowned comedian, actor, writer, producer and director.
As a child, Reiner and his family lived at 48 Bonnie Meadow Road in New Rochelle, New York; the home of the fictional Petrie family in The Dick Van Dyke Show, created by Rob’s father, was 148 Bonnie Meadow Lane. He attended the UCLA Film School.
Rob Reiner Wife
Reiner has been married twice. He was first married to actress/director Penny Marshall in 1971. The couple divorced in 1981.
Reiner was later introduced to his future wife, photographer Michele Singer, while directing When Harry Met Sally. The meeting not only resulted in his deciding to change the ending of that movie, but he also married Singer in 1989. The couple has three children.
In 1997, Reiner and his wife founded the “I Am Your Child Foundation,” and in 2004, they founded the “Parents’ Action for Children,” a non-profit organization with a dual purpose: a) to raise awareness of the importance of a child’s early years by producing and distributing celebrity-hosted educational videos for parents, and b) to advance public policy through parental education and advocacy.
Rob Reiner Children
Rob Reiner is a father of three children, Tracy Reiner, Nick Reiner (born 1993), Jake Reiner (born 1991) and Rony Reiner (born 1998). His daughter, actress Tracy Reiner, was from Marshall’s previous marriage to Michael Henry.
In addition to his four children, Reiner has five grandchildren, through his adopted daughter Tracy Reiner.
Rob Reiner Religion
Reiner was born to a Jewish family. He has stated that his childhood home was not observantly Jewish, although he did have a Bar Mitzvah ceremony; his father Carl has acknowledged that he himself became an atheist as the Holocaust progressed. On the January 13, 2012, episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, Reiner identified himself as having no religious affiliation and as an atheist.
He later told Huffington Post contributor Debra Oliver that while he rejected organized religion, he was sympathetic to the ideas of Buddhism.
Rob Reiner Net Worth
He has an estimated net worth of $60 million.
Rob Reiner All In The Family
Reiner played Michael Stivic, Archie Bunker’s liberal son-in-law, on Norman Lear’s 1970s situation comedy All in the Family, which was the most-watched television program in the United States for five seasons (1971–1976).
The character’s nickname, Meathead, became closely associated with Reiner, even after he had left the role and went on to build a career as a director. He has stated, “I could win the Nobel Prize and they’d write ‘Meathead wins the Nobel Prize’.” For his performance, Reiner won two Emmy Awards in addition to three other nominations and five Golden Globe nominations.
Rob Reiner This is Spinal Tap
Reiner is the director and co-writer of This is Spinal Tap, a 1984 comedy musical film. It is also likely that spinal tap might be gettinga sequel in which David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel ( Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) star as the titular hair metal band.
