Robert Kovacik Biography
Robert Kovacik is a well-known multiple-award-winning American Journalist working for NBC4 as an Anchor and General Assignment Reporter. He joined NBC4 in July 2004. There, he can be seen on the weekend evening newscasts at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm. He won the Emmy for Outstanding Hard News Reporting in 2018. And was selected as Journalist of the Year at the 55th Southern California Journalism Awards in 2013.
Robert is known for bringing viewers a local perspective and in-depth coverage of national and international events including the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the terrorist bombing in Manchester, England, the Route 91 Harvest Festival massacre in Las Vegas, the Pulse (nightclub) shooting in Orlando, the Papal Conclave in Rome, and the Summer Olympics in London. Later, he was honored by the British Consul-General of Los Angeles for his reporting of the Games. Also, he earned Emmy Awards for his coverage of the Olympics, as well as the Papal Conclave in Italy and the mass shooting in Orlando.
He was elected by his industry peers to serve three consecutive terms as President of the Los Angeles Press Club. After he was termed out, he was named an Honorary Board member of the LA Press Club, with the title, President Emeritus. Also, he is a three-time of the Genesis Award, presented by the Humane Society of the United States, recognizing the best media coverage of animal protecting issues. He is also an avid supporter of animal-related causes and helps raise awareness about the well-being of animals and the importance of pet adoption, including for NBC4’s annual Clear the Shelters adoption drive. Also, he is on the honorary Board of Operation Blankets of Love, a non-profit animal welfare and emergency relief organization.

He thus became the youngest anchor in New York City for NIGHTWORLD at Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).
