Ronnie DeVoe Biography

Ronnie DeVoe is an American rapper, actor, and singer who is best known for being a member of the R&B/pop group New Edition as well as the R&B/hip hop group Bell Biv DeVoe. He is also among the cast members of VH1 Couples Retreat alongside her wife Shamari.

DeVoe is a rapper, actor, and singer who was also the second-to-last member to join New Edition followed by Johnny Gill who was the last. He was brought to the group by the group’s choreographer Brooke Payne and his uncle. The group won second place at a talent show back in 1981. During this competition, record producer, Maurice Starr was amazed by them and later on signed them to his Streetwise record label.

In 1990, New Edition broke up and DeVoe and fellow New Edition members, Michael Bivins, and Ricky Bell formed the R&B/hip-hop group the name of Bell Biv DeVoe. In 1990, the group’s launch album, Poison, sold more than 5 million copies and accumulated five hit singles such as “B.B.D. (I Thought It Was Me)?” and “poison”. The group, later on, released another hit album in 1993 by the name of Hootie Mack. DeVoe reconvened with the other members of New Edition in 1996 which saw the release of the album, Home Again.

DeVoe and Bell Biv DeVoe released their third album, BBD in 2001 followed by their fourth album, Three Stripes in 2017. He started to make appearances on The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2018 after his wife was one of the cast housewives. Additionally, he still records and performs at concerts with New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe and is co-owner of DeVoe Broker Associates, a real estate agency in Atlanta, Georgia.
