Ross Whitley Biography
Ross Whitley is an American meteorologist working for WMBB as the chief meteorologist and can be seen on the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm newscast. He joined WMBB in June 2018 as a meteorologist, and later in January 2019, he was promoted to serving as the chief meteorologist.
In 2009, Whitley joined Catawba College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication and media studies in 2013. Later on, he joined the University of North Carolina Asheville where he earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology in 2015. Since his childhood days, he always loved the weather, and his parents would joke that they would take away the weather channel from him whenever he was in trouble.
In addition, Ross began his career in eastern Kentucky at Eastern Kentucky Broadcasting and now he is on the Mountain Top. While Ross was in eastern Kentucky, he worked as a weekend meteorologist and assisted in producing and shooting sports. Whitley produced an hour-long football show every week. Prior to joining Panama City, he worked in Little Rock where he served as a forecaster for 9 different television stations across the United States. Ross worked at 6 to 10 newscasts a day.
