Ruben Amaro Jr. is a prominent American former professional baseball outfielder and General manager (GM). From 1991 to 1998, he played in Major League Baseball. On November 3, 2008, he was named the GM of the Philadelphia Phillies, succeeding Pat Gillick, and remained in that position until September 10, 2015. Previously, he was the first base coach for the Boston Red Sox (2016-2017) and New York Mets (2018). Currently, he is a color commentator for the Philadelphia Phillie’s television broadcast and a contributor to the 94.1 WIP Morning Show in Philadelphia.

After graduating from high school, he attended Stanford University where he graduated. From February 1996 to May 1996, he worked for the Toronto Blue Jays as a Professional Baseball Player. On May 5, 1996, he was released by the Blue Jays. Prior to that, he was a Major League Baseball Player for the Cleveland Indians from November 1993 to November 1995. From December 1991 to November 1993, he played for the Philadelphia Phillies. For four years and seven months, he played for the Los Angeles Angels in two roles. First, as a professional baseball Player, I played as an Infielder/Outfielder from June 1987 to August 1991. And second as a Major League Baseball Player as an Infielder/Outfielder from September 1991 to December 1991.
