Ryan Decker Biography

Ryan Decker is an American sports reporter and anchors working at WBOY12 where he served as a weekend sports anchor ad reporter. He joined the WBOY12 team in May 2018, after previously working at WVU News where he was also a sports anchor and reporter.

In 2010, he joined Martinsburg High School where he graduated in 2014. Later on, he joined West Virginia University where he graduated in 2018, with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism.

Decker works at WBOY12 where he serves as a sports reporter and anchor. In November 2021, he joined the Gold And Blue Nation staff after having worked at WBOY-TV for three years. West Virginia is his native home and he was brought up in Martinsburg. Throughout his high school life, he played his favorite sport which was baseball and while he was also in high school, he also began covering sports.

In addition, while working at WBOY, he has assisted in overseeing the coverage of 26 local high schools and multiple local Division-II college programs. Decker has also covered many high school state tournaments and several collegiate conferences and NCAA tournament games. Furthermore, while he was in college, he worked at WWVU-FM where he served as the sports director.

While working at WWVU-FM, he broadcasted the university baseball and women’s basketball games such as the Mountaineers’ first NCAA Regional appearance, and many games at Big 12 Baseball Tournaments for 20 years in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 2017. During his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, playing video games, and watching sports including rooting for the Washington Football Team and the Mountaineers, and the Orioles.
