During her time at college, she worked as a cultural editor at The Round Up Newspaper from May 2016 to December 2016. Her work included printing news stories, writing, and publicizing web content. In addition to this, Madrid was also the president of Zeta Tau Alpha.

She joined the station in June 2018 working as a news production assistant before later working as a morning anchor. During her tenure there, she was in charge of pitching stories and creating, and researching information. Salina also works together with different institutions like local businesses, the local community, and local leaders.

Before joining KFOX14, Madrid served as an anchor and reporter at KRWG News22 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. While there, she conducted weather forecasts and delivered multiple news including local and national. Salina was also responsible for writing, editing, and creating news packages for the station. She served the station for three years and ten months from August 2014 to May 2018.

She started her professional career at WCIV, the ABC News affiliate in Charleston, South Carolina. As an intern, her roles included conducting interviews, editing, and producing news. She served the station for three months from May 2017 to July 2017. Her passion for journalism emerged at a young age when she used to read the newspaper every morning together with her grandfather
