Samantha Gannon Biography

Samantha Gannon is an American Sports host/reporter working for FOX 4 since joining the station and is so happy to be part of the FOX 4 sports team in Dallas. As a sports anchor and reporter, it’s always been a goal of Gannon to work in a major sports market.

The funny thing is she’s a Boston girl who grew up watching Cowboys games in the early ’90s with her dad, so no, she’s not a Patriots fan. But her Boston allegiance stands firm with the Celtics, Red Sox, and Bruins. Gannon swam competitively her entire life, including her freshman year at the University of Connecticut. When she decided to stop swimming, she had this huge void she needed to fill. That’s why she decided to get into journalism. Gannon wanted to live vicariously through other athletes and be able to help tell their stories.

Her first on-air break came in 2011 when she moved to Lake Charles, LA to be the weekend sports anchor at KPLC-TV. Moving to the deep south as a New England girl was the most extreme move she could have made to jump-start her broadcasting career but was a good one. It was life-changing and she’s always thankful for that experience.

Gannon then moved to OKC (aka Oklahoma City) where she spent the last six years working as the weekend sports Anchor and Reporter at KOKH-TV FOX 25. That was her REAL introduction to what big-time college football was like. Covering two major D1 programs in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State was marvelous. Then, of course, they had the Oklahoma City Thunder. It still pains her to think back to 2016 when she was minutes away from covering her first NBA finals (Game 6 WCF against Golden State –heartbreak city).

OKC became a second home to Gannon, but she knew it was time for new experiences. She has always wanted to cover the NFL and now she gets to do that with the Cowboys. Not to mention there are the Rangers, Mavs, Stars, and Wings. This is a pro sports town and the people there LOVE sports.
