Sara Flynn is an American meteorologist working for WOOD as a meteorologist since joining the station in June 2022. Previously, she worked for KGAN CBS 2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a meteorologist for 2 years.

Flynn joined Iowa State University in 2016 when she finished her studies at Downers Grove South High School. In 2020, she graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology with minors in Journalism and Mass Communication.
During college, she was the president of Iowa State’s Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society. She interned at KCCI in Des Moines and WGN in Chicago in the summers. She also worked at a local Girl Scout summer camp, Camp Greene Wood.

In 2021, Flynn won an Upper Midwest Emmy Award for Breaking News Coverage for her broadcast of the August 2020 derecho. A few months later, her team won an Edward R. Murrow News Documentary Award for “Iowa Derecho: In Their Own Words.”
