Scott Padgett Biography

Scott Padgett is an American meteorologist currently serving as the chief meteorologist for CBS 11. He has been working for the station since joining in September 2013.

Padgett attended Western Illinois University where he studied meteorology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology and a double minor in broadcasting and math.

Padgett’s interest in weather started at a young age. Funny enough Padgett was afraid of the weather from the time he was three to the time he was twelve years old. Padgett would sit with his father on the front porch watching the storms roll into his neighborhood. Thanks to his father, Padgett’s fear turned into a fascination, leading him to study meteorology.

During his career, Padgett was moved often and forecasted on many different climates. He has been challenged with ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and desert heat.  But being from a military family, Padgett is used to moving. However, he is now glad to be “back home” with his family. Padgett is a member of the National Weather Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.

In 2006, Padgett was awarded the Seal of Approval by the American Meteorological Society. Padgett is also an Emmy Award-nominated meteorologist bringing more than 22 years of forecasting and broadcasting experience to North Texas. Padgett has a meteorologist with more than 2 decades experience of in forecasting and broadcasting.

With his meteorological knowledge and combined personality, Padgett easily connects with viewers. His love for television has taken him to many places. He has a love of adventure and is looking forward to traveling all across South Florida, eating the local cuisine, and visiting with South Floridians. Padgett looks forward to greeting viewers on The Local News mornings between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. and around town.
