Sean Cavanaugh Biography
Sean Cavanaugh is an American journalist working for WRGB as a multimedia journalist since joining the station in June 2024. Previously, he received his Bachelor’s degree from Lyndon State College.
Sean Cavanaugh Education
Cavanaugh joined Lyndon State College in 2020 after finishing his studies at Londonderry High School. In May 2024, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. While in college, he was a contributor for The Critic, a baseball player, and an active member of the Campus Activities Board.
Cavanaugh worked as a reporter, executive producer, and anchor at the college’s on-campus newsroom. During his senior year, he anchored the 5:30 newscast, which was broadcast out to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and Facebook. Further, he covered high school sports, Town Meeting Day, local politics, the ever-changing Vermont State College system, as well as investigated the effects of staffing shortages in the community.
His most notable story is following a chain of burglaries in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, impacting businesses and prompting them to increase security. He also worked as a photographer at Kingdom Access Television in St. Johnsbury. In this role, he filmed town meetings, board meetings, and concerts. He won the Vermont Association of Broadcasters Award.
Cavanaugh played baseball with the Lyndon Hornets Baseball team for 4 years. There, he was a 3rd baseman and a relief pitcher during his first three years. He later switched to the bullpen to become a core part of the late-game action in his 4th year.
