Shane Butler is an American Meteorologist currently working for Alabama News Network as the Chief Meteorologist. He joined the ABC 32 team in 2015.

Butler attended Elmore County High School where he graduated proudly. Later in 1984, he joined Troy University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications and media studies in 1988. Later in, 1992 he joined Mississippi State University where he received a certificate in broadcast meteorology in 1996,

Butler works at ABC 32 where he serves as the Chief Meteorologist. Previously Butler worked at WRDW in Augusta, Georgia, for six years. He also worked for WSFA in Montgomery, where he performed noon weather from 1989 to 1992, prior to working for WTLV in Jacksonville, Florida, and WBRC in Birmingham.
He started his weather profession in 1988 at WTVY in Dothan. He as well worked for WGNX(now WGCL) in Atlanta, WEST in Lynchburg/Roanoke, Virginia, and WAAY in Huntsville as a chief meteorologist. In addition, he has the seal of approval from the National Weather Association (NWA) and also the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal (CBM) from the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
Bulter has been awarded the “Best Weathercaster” award from the Associated Press many times in Georgia, Virginia, and Alabama, and has been nominated for an Emmy Award for his work. Furthermore, he is an FAA authorized pilot and possesses a drone. He also has family in Elmore County and many friends throughout the area.
