Shara Park is an American five-time Emmy award-winning News anchor/reporter working at KSL 5 News since joining the team in 2007. She anchors for KSL 5 News Today and KSL 5 News at Noon. Additionally, she can be heard reporting the top local stories on KSL NewsRadio 102.7 FM/1160 AM.
Shara Park Education
Park attended Northern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in communications and a minor in journalism. She was recognized as the 2004 Broadcaster of the Year for her work with NTC, CNN Local Edition while she was at the University. She played volleyball for the Division I Huskies and she was also a member of the Track & Field team while at NIU.

Park is a news anchor/reporter at KSL 5 News. She is one of KSL’s go-to reporters for breaking news. Park covered Utah’s biggest breaking stories including the raging wildfires in Utah County, the death of the University of Utah student-athlete Lauren McCluskey, and the passing of President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Thomas S. Monson, in 2018.
Shara traveled to London, England to cover the terrorist attack on Westminster Bridge that killed a Utah man and injured his wife in 2017. Park was on the ground in Pinedale, Wyoming, and the first to report the discovery of the missing UTA truck belonging to kidnapped and murdered UTA employee Kay Ricks in 2016.
In 2014, her investigative reporting on the avalanche death of BYU student Ashleigh Cox lead to changes in dispatch codes and an emergency phone installed in American Fork Canyon. Shark was embedded with Utah Task Force 1 as they responded to catastrophic flooding in Boulder, Colorado in 2013. She traveled to Puyallup, Washington to cover the heartbreaking deaths of Susan Cox Powell’s two sons at the hands of their father in 2012.
Prior to moving to KSL, she worked as a sports/news anchor for KCSG Television in St. George, UT. Before that, Shara had the difficult job of living in Hawaii and interning with KWXX Radio, and KPUA as a feature sports writer. Additionally, she completed two sports internships at ABC 4 News in Utah.
She has been recognized multiple times for her reporting by the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Sciences and Television Arts. Park earned an Emmy for her work on the documentary Road to Recovery, which took an in-depth look at opioid abuse in Utah in 2019. Her reporting on school safety and the Safe UT app is additionally featured in a series of reports that in 2019 gained KSL the prestigious Edward R. Murrow for Outstanding Journalism.
Additionally, She has been recognized by the Utah Broadcasters Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2019, Park was named Utah’s best television reporter by the SPJ and took home first place for her breaking news reporting, an honor she also received in 2017.
