Shawn Styles is an American Meteorologist who serves as a reporter and weather anchor for KFMB-TV based in San Diego, California. At the age of 20, Shawn’s surfing adventures took him to various palaces such as California, Mexico, and Hawaii.

Shawn Styles, a CBS News 8 meteorologist and lifestyle reporter, could not ask for a better job than bringing you the latest weather updates. After all, it’s ideal for the self-described outdoorsman who enjoys surfing, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, sailing, and tennis, among other things!
“The weather has an impact on people’s life,” he argues. “I can assist them in making plans.” Shawn had no intention of appearing on television. “I was chosen by television,” he explains. “My career as a snow ski racer was coming to an end, and I had also worked in the film and television industries. Bringing up the weather seemed like a natural choice.”
Shawn was born and raised in La Mesa, San Diego. He spent his summers surfing in La Jolla Shores and developing a strong interest in the environment and weather. Shawn’s surfing travels carried him to California, Mexico, and Hawaii by the time he was 20. During the winters, he used his physical ability to go snow skiing in Utah. His friends persuaded him to compete in a freestyle skiing competition because he did so well. As a result, he pursued a career as a professional ski racer.
Shawn found time for broadcasting in between racing down the slopes and catching waves. From his pro skiing job in Park City, Utah, he started doing snow reports for East Coast radio stations. He subsequently caught the TV wave and began doing surf reports for KGTV, before expanding his horizons right here at CBS News 8 in August of 1996. Now he brings you the weather, as well as his one-of-a-kind “Adventures with Shawn Styles” segments. Shawn obtained his Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society after a lot of hard work.
Styles has a very active life in La Jolla when he isn’t on the hunt for the next big adventure. Shawn enjoys cooking, gardening, discovering excellent wines, antique shopping, and “a whole lot more,” to add to his already extensive list of interests. It’s no surprise that he says, “It’s all terrific!” with such zeal for life.
