Skyler Wilkes is an American journalist working for WDIO-TV as a sports anchor and reporter since joining the station in September 2025. He is beyond thrilled to ingratiate himself with the Northland and learn everything about the area. Broadcasting has always drawn him in.
Skyler Wilkes Education
Wilkes joined Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications (Go Orange!) in 2021 after finishing his studies at St. Luke’s School. In May 2025, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.
During his time in college, Wilkes was heavily involved in student media organizations, providing play-by-play for various SU football, men’s/women’s basketball, and men’s/women’s lacrosse games on the radio stations WAER and Z89.
Wilkes co-anchored On the Bench, the country’s longest-running collegiate sports program, on CitrusTV. He also worked as CitrusTV’s field hockey beat reporter. Moreover, he was a broadcasting intern at the Mansfield Destroyers, Harwich Mariners, and Norwich Sea Unicorns.

Even though he never got immersed in hockey, he looks forward to experiencing it with some of the nation’s best talent.
