Steve Caporizzo Biography
Steve Caporizzo is an American meteorologist working for NEWS10 ABC as Chief Meteorologist since December 1989. Previously, he worked as a chief meteorologist for WABI in Bangor, Maine, and WWLP in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Caporizzo Lyndon State College in Vermont after completing his high school education. In 1982, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology.

Caporizzo has worked for NEWS10 ABC as Chief Meteorologist since December 1989. Previously, he worked as a chief meteorologist for WABI in Bangor, Maine, and WWLP in Springfield, Massachusetts. Aside from TV, he has worked for many radio stations all over New York and New England.
Caporizzo still works on the radio. He forecasts the weather for The Cat 100.9, FLY-92, and Jamz 96.3 in Albany. Moreover, he serves WTSA AM/FM, a small station in Brattleboro, Vermont, that he formed in 1981.
Caporizzo’s interest in weather started when he was 9 years old. He sees weather forecasting and reporting in exchange for money as a dream come true. The American Meteorological Society (CBM) and the National Weather Association have awarded him their respective seal of approval for Television Broadcasting.
Aside from his meteorology career, Caporizzo is very active in the community. For example, he has visited more than than1500 schools, civic groups, and senior centers over the past 29 years. He partakes in many fundraisers that deal with the dilemma of homeless animals. In 2994, the Capital District Council for Social Studies gave him its Partners in Education Award for his endeavors of teaching adults and children about weather.
Notably, Caporizzo is known for his work with homeless animals and raising funds for Upstate NY and Western New England shelters. To date, he has worked with 16 shelters and 6 local rescue groups. So far, he has raised more than $1,000,000 for homeless animals. He has also raised money for the American Lung Association, Center for Disabilities, Children’s Miracle Network, and Make-A-Wish.
Pet Connection
In 1990, Caporizzo began a segment named Pet Connection airing nightly during the 5:30 p.m. newscast where he spotlights a pet that needs a home. Over the past 28 years, the show has located homes for more than 25,000 pets.
Annually, Caporizzo organizes and sponsors numerous large adoptions where many people go to adopt and help rescue and shelters. He aims to reach the public about puppy mill dogs and has traveled to mills in Ohio to rescue dogs that are in very poor physical and emotional conditions.
For his segment and work with homeless animals, Caporizzo has received many awards. However, he thinks that finding a home for the animals is the best award. He serves the Mohawk Hudson River Humane Society on its Board of Directors.
In 1999, he began “The Pet Connection Free Adoption Day.” On Pet Connection Free Adoption Day, Pet Connection pays adoption fees, spaying, and neutering, and shots for pets adopted. Caporizzo organizes numerous pet fundraisers and events including Pet Connection Adoption Day in July, Pins for Pets in April, and Golf for Pets in September. Moreover, he has two YouTube channels, “Pet Connection,” where he provides footage for pets on TV, and “Steve Caporizzo” where he provides updated weather feeds and briefings.
