He was drafted by major league baseball teams three times, including the San Francisco Giants, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Detroit Tigers. He signed a contract with the Detroit Tigers, playing three seasons in the Tigers’ minor league system. Later, he returned to college, where he obtained his degree. After graduating from college, he worked at KYMA in Yuma and at KVBC in Las Vegas before moving to Salt Lake City.
