Steve Sosna is an American meteorologist working for WJZ CBS News Baltimore as a meteorologist since joining the station in March 2023. His forecasts appear on weekend evenings and he works as a fill-in during the week on several WJZ weekday daypart newscasts. Previously, he served NBC10 Philadelphia as a meteorologist for more than 5 years.

Sosna joined Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2004 when he finished his high school education. During his time at Millersville, he took part in Allies (Gay & Lesbian Campus Club) Campus Weather Service, and the Career Services Department.
In 2005, he transferred to Kean University where he graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences. While there, he worked as the president of the American Meteorological Society (Kean University Chapter).

Sosna started his career as a meteorologist at News 12 Networks as a primary fill-in meteorologist on-air at News 12 Connecticut & News 12 Traffic & Weather from May 2008 to September 2008. He then joined KAAL-TV from September 2008 to September 2011 as a meteorologist. There he covered wall-to-wall severe weather coverage, on-air & online updates Monday-Froday mornings. He also was responsible for excellent educator packages, live shots, station appearances, volunteer work, and as a fill-in on-air at KSTP-TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Sosna joined NBC News in the Greater New York City Area in October 2011. In this role, his duties were to manage WNBC’s weather content such as coordinating weather cut-ins, producing/delivering weather segments, dispering station crews, formatting A-block weather coverage, and collaborating/sharing information with the digital team. He also forecast and produced weather forecasts and graphics for WNBC-TV, and was a fill-in on-air meteorologist for WRC-TV/WTOP Radio. Sosna was also an on-air meteorologist fill-in at MSNBC, created and presented weather content for NBC New York’s digital platforms.
Sosna organized and launched WNBC’s first weather branding: ”Storm Team 4” including graphics overhaul and redesign, on-air promos, and script. He created, launched, and managed WNBC’s weather social networking accounts such as StornTeam4NY Facebook and Twitter. He also wrote weather/climate stories for NBCNew York.com, recruited and trained weather interns, and took part in various community outreach events including the Health & Fitness Expo, school visits, and Comcast Cares Day.
Sosna also worked as an executive weather producer and regularly filled in on-air at MSNBC during fierce weather and on shows like Early Today, Andrea Mitchell Reports, Meet the Press Daily, MSNBC LIVE, AM Joy, and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell. He broadcasted hurricanes “Harvey” and “Irma” for more than 12 consecutive hours on-air during the damaging 2017 hurricane season.
Sosna worked at NBC10, in Philadelphia as a meteorologist from September 2017 to March 2023. In this role, he was a meteorologist who served on both weekend evening and weekday shows. He delivered live forecasts on KYW Newsradio, the largest 24/7 all-news radio station, in the Philadelphia market. Sosna created, collaborated, built, and produced forecasts and graphics from scratch every shift and also provided forecasts to other radio clients.
While at NBC Philadelphia, he alongside Brittney Shipp won a Mid-Atlantic regional Emmy for their broadcast during “Ida” which had caused ruinous floods and fierce tornadoes across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Also, he won NBC “GEM” (Going the Extra Mile) awards for his weather technology.

In March 2023, he joined WJZ/CBS News Baltimore as a meteorologist. His forecasts appear on weekend evenings and he works as a fill-in during the week on several WJZ weekday daypart newscasts.
