Steven Albritton is an American journalist working for WLWT as a news anchor since joining the station in September 2019. Previously, he worked as an evening anchor at WLWT’s sister station, KMBC 9 News in Kansas City, Missouri, for nearly 3 years.

Albritton joined Ball State University in 2005 after finishing his education at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. In 2009, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications. He furthered his studies there, obtaining his Master of Arts degree in Digital Storytelling.

While pursuing his Master’s, he worked as a graduate assistant in Telecommunications. Moreover, he shadowed and taught production courses, including camera use, lighting, and editing (Final Cut Pro). He also helped the TCOM Department on multiple tasks throughout the school year.

He has received two Emmy nominations, one while he was at KMBC for his thorough broadcast on the opioid epidemic and the other for a special broadcast of the Ball State Football program.

Before Missouri, Albritton worked as an anchor and reporter at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana, for more than 4 years. During his time in Lafayette, he won several honors from the Louisiana Associated Press and the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters, including “Reporter of the Year” and “Story of the Year” Awards.

Albritton covered big stories for KATC, including the F-5 tornado in Moore, Hurricane Issac, and the Carnival Triumph stranded at Sea. Moreover, he anchored an extensive broadcast of the unforgettable flooding in southwest Louisiana in August of 2016. He found his love for news and sports in high school. Besides his broadcasting work, he taught high school cheerleaders on US Military bases in Germany and Italy in 2011 & 2012.
