Summer Bishil is an American actress who first rose to prominence starring as Jasira in Towelhead. Her performance as Jasira won her a nomination for an Independent Spirit Best Female Lead Award. She then had minor roles in films and TV series like The Last Airbender and 90210 before starring in ABC’s Lucky 7.

While living in Bahrain, Bishil studied at British and American schools. When she returned to the US, she studied at a regular public high school for a week in San Diego before being home-schooled by her mother. Subsequently, she took classes at Citrus College in Glendora, California.

Bishil began acting lessons when she was 14 years old. Within a year, she was signed to a contract with a manager and agency. She secured her first role in Nickelodeon’s Just for Kicks and in several other children’s shows. In 2007, she had her breakthrough with a role in Alan Ball’s Towelhead.
In 2009, Bishil starred in Wayne Kramer’s project, Crossing Over, opposite Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. She then portrayed Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender in 2010.
