Sydney Persing is an American journalist working for WFAA as a general assignment reporter. She joined the station in July 2022. Previously, she served WINK News in Fort Myers, Florida as a reporter for 3 years.
Sydney Persing Education
Persing attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015 after completing her high school education at Newark Academy. She graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Political Science and Media and Journalism.
During her time in college, she was a Division I athlete. The college’s women’s fencing program recruited her and she was its captain. She led the team to its sole ACC championship in program history, her proudest achievement.

Her reporting career started when she worked in Fort Myers. During her time there, she broadcasted everything including the Surfside condo collapse, Gabby Petito’s killing, Governor Ron DeSantis, the hunt for Brian Laundrie, the COVID calamity from inside the ICU, hurricanes, and tornadoes.
Persing says that she’s amazed that people trust her to record the most vulnerable moments of their lives. She enjoys going outside, running slowly, searching for vintage fashion at thrift stores, or cuddling at home with her cat. Reality TV is her guilty pleasure. She loves working at WFAA because it has the best photojournalists in the nation and it encourages the authenticity of its employees.

Persing says that her favorite memory of her father was when she and her team won against Notre Dame and Duke and her father stormed the Carmichael Arena. She seems to have had a close relationship with her father as she regularly posts him on her Instagram account and says that she’ll never forget them. Also, she has a tattoo of the name Dad on her foot. She has a twin brother named Zach. Zach graduated magna cum laude from Penn Law as evidenced by her Instagram post on May 17, 2022, where she congratulated him for graduating.
