Timothée Chalamet is an American and French actor who has attained a couple of awards including Academy Award nominations, three Golden Globe Awards, and three BAFTA Film Awards. He gained fame abroad for starring as a lovestruck teenager in Call Me by Your Name in 2017. For his performance in the film, he received an  Academy Best Actor Award nomination.

Chalamet studied at PS 87 William T. Sherman School before joining the selective Delta program at MS 54 Booker T. Washington Middle School. He described the program as wretched because it lacked a creative outlet within the school’s academically strict setting.

Chalamet then joined Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. A teacher at the school insisted he should be accepted into the school after Chalamet’s audition impressed him despite him being disqualified during the interview because of his record in middle school.

While in high school, he participated in school musicals where he starred as Emcee in Cabaret and Oscar Lindquist in Sweet Charity. In 2013, he graduated high school. A YoungArts alumnus, he joined Columbia University at the age of 17. For a year, he majored in Cultural Anthropology and lived in Hartley Hall.

Chalamet found adjusting to Columbia University hard after he filmed Interstellar. Thus, he transferred to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study where he freely pursued his acting career. After leaving Columbia University, he relocated to  Concourse, Bronx.

Chalamet received inspiration to pursue an acting career after he watched Heath Ledger’s playing Joker in The Dark Knight (2008).
