Todd McDermott Biography

Todd McDermott is a multi-Emmy Award-winning anchor and reporter working for WPBF 25 News. He has been working for the station since joining in 2012.

McDermott serves as the co-anchor of the WPBF 25 News at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. alongside Felicia Rodriguez. In addition to this role at the station, he also contributes to the station’s 5 p.m. broadcast. Prior to these roles at the station, he previously served as the moderator of several major statewide debates including the Florida Gubernatorial Debate, 2018 Race for Governor; Decision 2018 Before You Vote; U.S. Senate Debate; and Decision 2016 Before You Vote.

McDermott previously worked for the CBS flagship station in New York City where he served as the anchor of the weekend evening shows and the weekday 5 p.m. newscast. During his time here, he also anchored the CBS Morning News and hosted the “CBS Early Show.” Prior to joining CBS, he worked for WUSA in Washington, D.C., KSNW in Wichita, WPXI in Pittsburgh, and WMAR in Baltimore where he served as an anchor and reporter.

McDermott has also managed to win several awards and honors ever since he started his journalism career. Some of the awards include an Emmy for “Best Anchor” while in Washington D.C and was honored with an Emmy for WPBF 25’s “Chronicle: Crime Files – Behind the Tape,” as well as the documentary “Cuba: Unlocked”.

He is also a recipient of the New York Associated Press Award for Excellence for his reporting following the Sept. 11th attacks. He went to Canisius College in his hometown of Buffalo where he attained his political science degree. Whenever he is not working, he enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends as well as collecting guitars.
