Tom Leyden is an American journalist, sports anchor, and publisher who most recently worked for Boston 25 News serving as the lead sports anchor. He worked for Boston 25 News from April 2015 to September 2021.

Leyden was a sports anchor at Boston 25 News from April 2015 to September 2021. He first joined the station as Sports Director. Tom anchors sports and hosts special sports programs, including “Boston 25 Sports In Depth,” and is also part of Boston 25′s “Zip Trip” team during the summer. Tom spent four years at WFMZ-TV in Allentown, PA. Prior to making the jump to television before moving to Detroit.
In April 2015, Tom joined Boston 25 News as Sports Director, he later climbed the ladder and he is currently serving as the lead sports anchor. He anchors sports and hosts special sports programs, including “Boston 25 Sports In Depth,” and is also part of Boston 25′s “Zip Trip” team during the summer.
He served as a Sports Director at WXYZ-TV in Detroit for 11 years from 2012-2015 before joining the Boston 25 News team. While working at WXYZ, the Associated Press recognized Tom with its Best Sportscast award four times. He also earned the Best Sportscast award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in 2013 and hosted Lions GameDay Live from 2012-2014.
His determination and hard work have not gone unnoticed, he has received 33 Emmy nominations over the course of his career and has won 11 Emmys. Tom makes effort to inform the broad audience, not just the hard-core sports fan. “I can talk x’s and o’s, but I really enjoy speaking to people with little knowledge about sports and trying to make the story means to them, too. Emotion has always guided me in my story-telling.”
In 2020 he received the special, “Remembering Pete Frates” and was nominated for a New England Regional Emmy, the “Boston 25 Sports In Depth” program received two nominations in 2018 then the documentary, “Needham/Wellesley: More Than A Game,” was nominated in 2016. He has also received three individual nominations for Best Sports Reporter since joining Boston 25 News.
