Tracie Strahan Biography
Tracie Strahan is an American Award-winning journalist and a breaking news and general assignment reporter who appears on Today in New York. Strahan has hosted ”Positively Black” – NBC 4 New York’s long-running Public Affairs program that won a 2014 ”New York National Association of Black Journalists” award for best programming. The show highlights health and education issues, social and cultural programs and services, as well as community leaders who are making a difference in the African American Community.

Strahan started her career in broadcasting as a news production assistant for 1010 WINS radio in New York while still in college. She later joined News 4 New York from CBS Newspah, covering news for all CBS stations nationwide. Strahan has also served as a news anchor for MTVU, a branch of MTV serving college campuses, and was a Reporter/Producer for WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana.
Tracie was acknowledged in the 2008 edition of ”Television Week” magazine as one of the next generations of ”Television News Stars”. The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) awarded her the Michele Clark Fellowship, recognizing the achievements of young, promising, minority professionals in television or radio news. Her reporting was a key component of NBC 4 New York’s award-winning COVID-19 coverage honored in January 2021. It was awarded the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for ”creat(ing) a 360 view in real time of the coronavirus pandemic, with courageous and thorough reporting on the virus’s explosion in New York City.” The duPont has long been recognized as the broadcast, documentary, and online equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize, also awarded by Columbia University.
Her commitment to journalistic excellence was recognized with a National Emmy and Edward R. Murrow award together with NBC 4 New York’s continuing coverage of Superstorm Sandy in 2012. She was the recipient of the prestigious Newswomen Club of New York’s 2014 ”Front Page” award for breaking news coverage. Strahan also received 2 New York Emmy awards for top live television news reporter (2012) and for team news coverage (2019).
