Trevor Noah is a South African Award-winning comedian, television host, producer, political commentator, writer, and actor. He is well known for being the host of The Daily Show, an American satirical news program on Comedy Central.
Trevor Noah Career
Noah, then 18 years old, had a minor part in an episode of the South African soap opera Isidingo in 2002. Later, on YFM, Gauteng’s leading youth radio station, he hosted his own radio show, Noah’s Ark. Noah gave up his radio show and acting career to focus on comedy and has worked with South African comedians David Kau, Kagiso Lediga, Riaad Moosa, Marc Lottering, Darren Simpson, Barry Hilton, and Nik Rabinowitz, as well as international comedians Paul Rodriguez, Carl Barron, Dan Ilic, and Paul Zerdin, and as the opening act for American comedian Gabriel Iglesias in November 2007 and Canadiense comedian Gabriel Igle.
Noah went on to host an educational TV show on SABC 2 called Run the Adventure. In 2007, he hosted two shows on SABC 1: The Real Goboza, a gossip show, and Siyadlala, a sports show. Noah cohosted The Amazing Date with Pabi Moloi in 2008, and he was a fourth-season contestant on Strictly Come Dancing. He co-hosted The Axe Sweet Life, a reality competition program, with Eugene Khoza in 2009 and hosted the 3rd Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). Noah hosted the 16th annual South African Music Awards in 2010 and also co-hosted MNet’s Tonight with Trevor Noah.
In 2010, Noah joined Cell C, South Africa’s third-largest mobile phone network operator, as a spokesman and customer protection agent. Noah has appeared in shows such as The Blacks Only Comedy Show, Heavyweight Comedy Jam, Vodacom Campus Comedy Tour, Cape Town International Comedy Festival, Jozi Comedy Festival, and Bafunny Bafunny all over South Africa. The Daywalker, That’s Racist, Crazy Normal, and It’s My Culture are among his stand-up comedy specials in South Africa. He moved to the United States in 2011.
Noah made history by becoming the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on The Tonight Show on January 6, 2012, and the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on Late Show with David Letterman on May 17, 2013.
Noah was the subject of the documentary You Laugh But It’s True, which was released in 2012. The next year, he appeared in Trevor Noah: The Racist, a one-man comedy show based on his similarly named South African special That’s Racist. Noah served as the Roastmaster for South African Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr in a Comedy Central Roast on September 12th. Trevor Noah: African American, a comedy special he did in 2013, was a hit.
