Trina Robinson Biography
Trina Robinson is an American Emmy award-winning Anchor, Reporter, and meteorologist working for NBC 6 since joining the station in September of 1999. She became one of WTVJ’s most visible and versatile reporters.

She received a Liberal Arts degree from the College of Notre Dame in Baltimore, a graduate degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from the American University in Washington, D.C., and did her coursework in Meteorology at Mississippi State University.

Trina currently anchors the NBC 6 News at 4 & 5:30 p.m. and hails as the first African-American to ever hold a TV weather position in South Florida. She has as well been a part of the NBC 6 Investigators and is a breaking news specialist.
Robinson has garnered two Emmys for contributions to the station’s Hurricane Specials. She has had multiple re-incarnations during her tenure with NBC 6 from morning anchor to 4 p.m. anchor to “Trina Tries It” where she did everything from tossing knives as a Benihana Chef to grabbing a chainsaw to ice sculpt a towering frigid work of art.

She came to WTVJ from KYW in Philadelphia where she anchored the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts and covered the White House for budget hearings and the “Monica Lewinsky Scandal” which led to the impeachment of President Clinton. Before KYW, she worked in Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers, South Carolina, and Virginia. Robinson’s commitment to news parallels her dedication to “giving people information that can improve and even change their lives,” she says.
Trina demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in journalism by uncovering an underground network of women illegally giving and receiving silicone injections to improve their beauty. The story aired before the death of one woman who had the injections. This led to a number of arrests of unlicensed medical practitioners and garnered national and international attention and resulted in numerous local and national awards.
