Sargent attended Danville High School in 2003 where he finished with a diploma in 2007. After high school, he enrolled at Troy University where he attained a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism in 2011. In college, he was an active member of the Order of Omega Honor Society and Student Government Association Senator. Tucker also worked for WAAY-TV in Huntsville where she served as an intern.

He joined the station in April 2012 working as a general assignment reporter for two years and four months. Later on, Tucker secured a position as a sports anchor and reporter from July 2014 to August 2018. He also hosts a weekly show called Restaurant Report Card which showcases local food service inspection scores.
During his time there, Sargent was in charge of editing, shooting, and conducting interviews. He also covered major breaking news including Georgia Tech athletics, Fort Valley State, and UGA athletics. In 2014, Tucker reported the NCAA Tournament of Mercer basketball’s upset of Duke.
Before joining WMGT-TV, Tucker served as an intern at WAAY-TV where he worked for less than a year. For his excellent work, he was honored with the ‘Best Sports Program in Alabama’ for his show on ‘Friday Night Football’. On top of this, he also covered several sports including LSU vs. Alabama, and wrote sports scripts for the station. Apart from working as a journalist, Sargent worked for Point Mallard Aquatic Center as a lifeguard. While there, he managed the pool areas to ensure swimmers were safe and solved the issues.
