Veronica Ortega is an American journalist working for WZZM as an anchor and reporter since joining the station in October 2021. Previously, she worked for 5News in Fayetteville, Arkansas as an anchor and reporter for nearly 2 years.

Ortega joined DePaul University in Chicago when she finished her studies at Lincoln Park High School. She graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in History and a Literature minor. In 2014, she graduated with a Master Of Arts degree in Journalism from the institution.
During college, she anchored and reported for Good Day DePaul. There, she shot, wrote, and edited feature stories for the student-run TV show. She was also a community affairs intern at WGN where she produced news packages for the shows, People To People and Adelante. Also, she shadowed reporters in the field.

Ortega moved to South Bend where she joined WSBT22 News as a reporter. During her time there, she covered the unforgettable 2018 floods. In December 2018, she joined 5NEWS in Fayetteville/Fort Smith as an anchor and reporter. In Fayetteville, Ortega co-anchored the 4&5 newscasts on weekdays and reported daily.
