Vytas Reid Biography
Vytas Reid is an American meteorologist of African descent working for CBS12 News as the Chief Meteorologist for the awarded CBS12 News 5, 5:30, and 11 p.m. newscast. Previously, he worked for WBFF FOX 45 in Baltimore as a chief meteorologist for 15 years.
Vytas Reid Education
Reid attended Indiana University after completing his high school studies. When he finished his studies, he became a graduate and attained a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications. Further, he holds a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Before Baltimore, he worked for Sinclair Broadcast Group’s News Central weather operations in Maryland. Prior to Maryland, he worked in Indianapolis at WRTV ABC 6 and in Fort Wayne at WKJG NBC 33. Further, he worked at WB 17 Philadelphia, WXIN FOX 59 in Indianapolis, and FOX 28 in South Bend.
He received the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society. Reid serves as a standing member of the National Weather Association and serves on the Diversity Committee for the NWA. Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, he enjoys being involved in various activities within communities.
On a side note, he loves all types of music, cultural events, traveling, and being outdoors to enjoy nature. DJ music, mixing tunes from House music including R&B, and well-known dance music serves as one of his hobbies.
Involved with weather education, he shares how weather works via weather presentations at schools in the region. An active member of the Baha’i Faith, he holds the motto, “Let your vision be world-embracing.”

Reid’s father worked as a teacher and an assistant principal at Creston High School. While there, he taught German and Spanish. Further, he taught language arts at Grand Rapids Community College. Reid has allegedly married twice. In August 2014, he exchanged vows with Lia according to a post on Facebook by Jeff Barnd on August 20, 2014. Allegedly, he celebrated his divorce from his second wife in 2022 according to FTLive. Further, he has a daughter named Anisa. She was born on May 31, 2000, and is 23 as of 2023. Even so, he is very private about his personal life therefore it is not known if he is in any relationship.

In 2018, Reid collapsed mid-broadcast while disclosing Baltimore’s temperatures that afternoon. Allegedly, he collapsed as a result of skipping a meal.
Vytas Reid Cancer
Reid began his radiation treatment for cancer, a type of lymphoma of the skin, in June 2023. A PET scan revealed that the cancer had not spread to other organs and was on one arm. Further, he underwent a biopsy that determined he needed radiation treatment. The cancer began in 2022 as a bruising area on his right arm which got worse than reddish and a bit scaly. It looked like a psoriasis patch, but it wasn’t.
