Wayne Dawson Biography
Wayne Dawson is an American professional newscaster and co-host of Fox 8 in the Morning, a morning show broadcast on Fox affiliate WJW-TV Channel 8, in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the station in 1981, from WNIR-AM in Kent, Ohio.

Dawson studied at Shaw High School, graduating with a diploma. He then attended Cuyahoga Community College, where he graduated. Dawson later joined Kent State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1979.

Dawson started working as an anchor and reporter at WNIR-AM in Kent, Ohio. He served at the station for two years, prior to joining WJW, in Cleveland, Ohio in 1981. Dawson works as a television newscaster and co-host of Fox 8 in the Morning, co-anchoring alongside Kristi Capel.
He is an eight-time regional flangie final Emmy Award winner (Lower Great Lakes-NATAS). He is also a member of the NAACP, the National Association of African American Journalists, and the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. Dawson was then inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame (located in Akron, Ohio) in 2000.
In June 2007, he had jokingly addressed one of his fellow reporters, Kenny Crumpton, as being able to ”play a skin flute” in the morning news program Fox 8 in the Morning. A video about the gaffe was uploaded onto YouTube but WJW-TV Channel 8 instantly requested for its removal. Dawson was also later involved in the ”jiggaboo” comment made by his co-anchor Kristi Capel. He has also authored a book titled The Seeds of Greatness Are Within You: A Memoir.
