Willie Geist is an American television personality and humorist who is best known for being the host of ‘Sunday Today with Willie Geist’ and co-host of MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’. He is also a correspondent for NBC News and NBC Sports, hosting and contributing to NBC’s Olympic coverage.
Geist was on air for seven consecutive hours on NBC covering the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting on the morning of June 12, 2016. He voiced Sum in Kung Fu Panda 3 alongside Al Roker as Dim, their characters are twin panda brothers who are related to Po.

Willie started his career on CNN as an editor and producer for CNN Sports illustrated and later a field producer and reporter for CNN sports where he covered the Super Bowl, the NCAA Final Four, and The Masters. He was a writer and producer for I, Max in 2004, a short-lived sports commentary show hosted by Max Kellerman on Fox Sports Net. In April 2005 he joined MSNBC as a senior producer of The Situation with Tucker Carlson.
In late April 2007, he began co-hosting MSNBC’s 6–9 a.m. morning time slot almost immediately after Don Imus was fired. In September 2007 he became a permanent co-host of Morning Joe, along with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
He began hosting his own 30-minute program ‘Way Too Early with Willie Geist’ in late July 2009. which aired at 5:30 a.m. on MSNBC, the show aired until November 2012. In 2010 he began substituting for Matt Lauer as host and newsreader of the ‘Today Show’ becoming the official co-host in November 2012. In 2016 he became the solo host of the new ‘Sunday Today’ that launched in April.
