David Snyder Biography

David Snyder is an American anchor/reporter working for WCJB as an evening co-anchor at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm. He joined WCJB in 2004, after previously working at WSAZ.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in History-Polo Science in 1987, from Eastern Michigan University. Later in 1992, he joined Regent University where he graduated with a Master’s degree in government in 1995. Snyder has served as a broadcast journalist for a period of 30 years, and during this time, he has reported on issues and events across the United States and around the world.

He has had the opportunity to catapult off an aircraft carrier in Persian Gulf, chase aliens in Roswell, New Mexico, prayed with Moses (well, Charlton Heston, who played Moses), catapulted off an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf (and out of several H.R. offices), and stayed with Kosovar refugees in Albania. In addition, he covered Congress on September 11th and he can recall hearing the thunderous explosion at the Pentagon and being evacuated from his office in the Capitol Building.

A number of his most memorable moments in North Central Florida include; covering the wild hurricane season of 2004, interviewing President Obama two times, and field anchoring the evening that Danny Rolling was executed for which the station earned a regional Murrow Award. Snyder is also very active in the community and he enjoys reading to school kids, running for various causes, and he is friends with Gainesville’s burgeoning innovation community and the Dance Alive National Ballet.
