Kevin Wells Biography

Kevin Wells is an American anchor/reporter/director working for WCJB TV20 as a sports director. Prior to joining WCJB TV20, he worked at KFXF / KXD in Fairbanks where he was also a sports director. 

While growing up, he wished to become a professional athlete. however, his dream was shattered in the 5th grade when he gave up a soul-crushing home run to his elementary school gym teacher during the annual students versus teachers softball game. He later joined Syracuse University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1999.

Wells started his television career in Alaska where he worked at KFXF / KXD while serving as a sports director for a period of 4 years. While he worked at KFXF / KXD, he learned everything about sports including cross-country skiing, college hockey, and sled dog racing. Later in 2003, he secured a job at KTUU in Anchorage where he worked for 13 years, and in 2010, he was promoted to sports director.

Kevin oversaw the station’s sports coverage of everything from high schools to college, to outdoor adventure events such as the Iditarod. In addition, he also did receive many Alaska Broadcasters Association awards for Best Sportscast and Best Sports Story. After residing in Alaska for a decade, he is trading in his goose-down parka for shorts and sunglasses, while serving as a Sports Director at WCJB TV 20.
