Jim Hummel is an American Emmy Award-winning anchor and reporter working for KADN News serving as a co-anchor of 5, 6, and 10 newscasts. Before joining KADN News, he worked for KATC News as a co-anchor at 5,6 and 10 alongside Marcelle Fontenot.

Hummel attained a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. He then furthered his studies at the University of Westminster in London where he majored in art, language, history, and theater.

Hummel works for KADN News in Lafayette, Louisiana where he serves as an evening anchor at 5, 6, and 10 pm. Previously, he worked for KATC News as a co-anchor at 5,6 and 10 alongside Marcelle Fontenot. Jim joined the station in 2009 working as a weekend anchor before later securing a position as a weekday anchor. For his work at KATC, he earned various awards including the Reporter of the Year from the Louisiana Associated Press Broadcasters Association. He also received three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and two Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards for his investigative reports.
Throughout his career, Hummel has been frequently tapped to moderate mayoral forums and debates, congressional, and gubernatorial debates. In 2018, he reported live on CNN Headline News and CNN on a Vermilion parish teacher’s arrest at a school board meeting that was featured on TV stations across the country. His unforgettable stories include the trip with a group of World War II veterans to Washington D.C. in 2018. During his time with the Veterans, he formed friendships with some of the veterans which he claimed are the memorable moments he will never forget.
Jim began his broadcasting career at WCVB-TV working as a news writer in addition to working for NECN as an assignment editor. Furthermore, he published a thesis: The Synthesis of Vinyl and Polyhydroxylated Pyrrolidines and Purification Attempts Using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography.
