Steve Minich Biography
Steve Minich is a retired American journalist who previously worked for WMTW as a host of “Total Maine with Steve Minich” on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. He joined the station in December 1991 and retired in February 2024 after working in the industry for 49 years and serving the station for 32 years.

Minich joined the Ohio State University in 1975 when he finished his high school education. In 1979, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. During college, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha.

Aside from his weekly show, he worked as a producer of three special features every week. These series include the Hometown Maine series airing on Mondays during WMTW News 8 at 4 p.m., the Made in Maine series on Wednesdays at 4 p.m., and the CommUNITY Champion segments on Fridays at 6 p.m.
After graduating college, he moved to Columbus, Ohio where he served WSYX as a sportscaster for 11 years. During his career, he has received several awards for his journalism work including awards from the Associated Press and Maine Association of Broadcasters. He also won an Emmy for his reporting work.
In 2021, his show, “Total Maine,” was named the best locally produced program in Maine by the Maine Association of Broadcasters. He lives by George Bernard Shaw’s motto; “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”
