Reese Thompson is an American journalist working for WCSC as a news reporter for WCSC since joining the station in June 2025. Previously, she worked for Ohio University’s WOUB Public Media, where she was an anchor and reporter for 4 years.

Thompson joined Ohio University in 2021 after finishing her studies at Gahanna Lincoln High School. In 2025, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism, News, and Information. While in college, she served the college TV station, WOUB Public Media, as an anchor and reporter for 4 years.
During her time at WOUB Public Media, she worked as a videographer, reporter, and writer for Gridiron Glory, a football production covering all high school conferences in the southeastern Ohio region, and Bobcat Showcase, which covers Ohio University teams such as football, soccer, wrestling, and basketball. She was also an intern at the Scripps News Washington, D.C., Bureau during the summers. Moreover, she served Guardians Baseball Insider as a sports reporter for the AAA Columbus Clippers.

Thompson works for WCSC as a news reporter for WCSC. Her interest in news started when she was involved high school TV program, “Lincoln Live” during her junior year. In this capacity, she learned everything, including anchoring, reporting, and producing, to being a storyteller. After she realized that she wanted to be a journalist, she joined Ohio University’s WOUB Public Media, where she was an anchor and reporter for 4 years.
Thompson’s most interesting assignment so far was going to an upcoming beer-spa business launch in rural southeast Ohio. The spa has a European-inspired approach to holistic health that uses hops, an herb primarily used in brewing beer, and with other antioxidants to make a relaxing yet exotic experience by bathing in beer!
Thompson’s news philosophy is write for the ear, shoot for the eye, aim for the heart, as Al Tompkins says. She loves the Lowcountry for the European feel to its architecture, food spots, coffee shops, hidden gems, and the beautiful nature to explore. The colorful and cobblestone streets make the area uniquely charming.
