Owens works with WRAL-TV where he serves the station as a Reporter. Prior to this, he was working with WAVY-TV in Norfolk, Virginia where he serves the station as a reporter/anchor. He worked for the station between the years 2004 and 2007. Previously, he was working with WNCT-TV in Greenville, North Carolina where he was serving the station as a producer and reporter between the years 2001 and 2004.

In the course of his career, he has received two regional Emmys which include one for breaking news reporting during Hurricane Florence in the year 2018. Asides from this, he also received a first-place award for General News in the year 2014. Asides from this, he received a Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas and Best Consumer Report in the year 2004.

He has also received the North Carolina Associated Press and the Rookie of the Year 2003. This is in addition to receiving the North Carolina Associated Press. He states that in the news one needs to be accurate and fair in telling stories that help to make people’s lives better. Owens is a proud graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

There, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications and a minor in political science in the year 2001. Away from work, he enjoys traveling, biking, boating, and playing tennis. He explains that what he loves most about North Carolina is that he was born and raised in North Carolina and has always loved the people in North Carolina and their stories.

Among his most memorable assignments includes having the opportunity to cover Marines at Camp Lejeune as they prepared for their first deployment to Iraq in 2003. They also allowed him to go through some of their rigorous alongside them. This meant exercises in urban combat and surviving a simulated gas attack. They were some of the toughest and bravest men and women they ever met.
