Alec Ausmus Biography
Alec Ausmus is an American anchor/reporter/director working for KSTP as a weekday and weekend sports reporter. He joined KSTP in May 2022, after previously working at KSNW-TV where he was the sports director.
Minnesotan is his birth home and later on, he was brought up in Hinckley. In 2004, Alec joined Hinckley-Finlayson High School where he graduated in 2010, with a diploma. Later on, he joined St. Cloud State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and media studies in 2013. He was able to secure his first television job at UTVS Television Studios where he served as a sports anchor before he was later promoted to serving the sports director in August 2011.
From February 2012 to July 2013, Ausmus worked at UTVS Television Studios where he was a sports intern and social media correspondent. Later on, he was a sports intern at KMSP-TV Fox 9 in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area. Alec also worked at WDIO/WIRT-TV in Duluth, Minnesota from June 2014 to June 2016, as a weekend sports anchor and reporter. In addition, Alec has also worked at ABC 27 in Madison, Wisconsin for almost 5 years and while he was there he served as a sports intern.
Furthermore, his most memorable stories included covering a number of major sporting events including his two favorites being the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, and the NCAA Final Four/National Championship in 2022 in New Orleans. His favorite pro-sports team is The Twins and he missed their 1991 World Series win by six days however, he patiently waits for their next win.
