Alex Coleman is an American Emmy award-winning Anchor working with WREG3 News where he serves the station as a co-anchor for top-rated 4 &4:30 News. Additionally, he also co-anchors Live At 9, a news, interview & entertainment program.

Coleman attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He graduated with a B.A. degree in Communications & was honored with the Alpha Epsilon Rho Award for outstanding Broadcast Senior.

Coleman works with WREG3 News where he serves the station as a co-anchor. He has been working with WREG3 News for over two decades now. Prior to WREG, he attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. While at the university, he served as news director, anchor & reporter for the university’s TV station. Additionally, he also worked in radio & TV as a news reporter and anchor in Alabama.

He is an Emmy-Awards-Winning journalist and won Emmys for WREG’s “Memphis: On a Mission-Breaking the Cycle” & “Memphis: On a Mission-Team Read” specials. Additionally, he also covered the commemoration of ‘MLK50,’ in the years 2009 & 2013 the Inaugurations of President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C., and “In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul” in Washington, D.C.

He also exclusively interviewed Sir Elton John and Steve Wonder in the year 2013 and also had exclusive access to Boxing Champ Lennox Lewis during the Lewis v Mike Tyson fight. This is in addition to reporting from the Memphis Tigers’ Road to The Final Four Championship Games in San Antonio. He also covered the Virginia Tech School Shooting in Blacksburg, mayoral & congressional elections, the arrival of the NBA Grizzlies, and the development of FedExForum and the National Civil Rights Museum.

Asides from anchoring, he also speaks to school and civic groups. He is also a Team Read volunteer coach for Shelby County Schools. Additionally, he is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, & NATAS. He has also served on boards for the Memphis Music Foundation, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the Boys & Girls Club, the Blues Foundation, Latino Memphis, and the Fogelman YMCA.

He also hosted the NAACP Freedom Fund Gala, the Memphis Latino Leadership Awards, the National Civil Rights Museum’s Freedom Awards, the Zion Community Project ceremony, the Blues Music Awards Show, & Blues 4 Prostate Cancer Education concert featuring Buddy Guy & Bobby Rush, and the Latino Memphis Gala.

Away from work, he enjoys listening to music and watching movies. Additionally, he also enjoys traveling, reading, running, and keeping up with the Memphis Tiger Basketball & Football team, the Memphis Grizzlies, and his Alabama Crimson Tide Football team. He states that what he loves most about Memphis is the city and its growing diversity, the city’s rich musical heritage, and the people. Additionally, he says he loves Memphis Politics.
