Ali Turiano Biography

Ali Turiano is an American Meteorologist working for FOX 4 since joining the station in May 2009. Her love for weather started at the age of eleven when her family moved here from New York to Tampa Bay, Florida.

Periodically, powerful thunderstorms rolled through each afternoon lighting up the sky. Towering clouds and lightning sprawled across the sky like a spiderweb and Turiano gets fascinated by it all. Then the blockbuster movie “Twister” came out and solidified her career path in an instant. Turiano wanted to chase tornadoes! Her mother of course would not allow that, so she continued her studies in many advanced math and science courses while in high school, to prepare herself for college.

During her senior year, she was fortunate enough to have an internship at WFTS in Tampa. It was there that she combined two passions; weather and being on camera. Turiano knew being a broadcast meteorologist was the right choice. She attended Penn State University, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology, with a forecasting and communications option. While at Penn State, Turiano participated in the CampusWeather Service and a College of Communications show, called “The Centre County Report.” She as well as the opportunity to have an apprenticeship at the National Weather Service.

Upon graduation, luckily she got her first job at WENY, in Elmira, New York as the morning meteorologist. During my time in the Finger Lakes, she also had the opportunity to fill in at WENY sister station WICU in Erie, Pennsylvania. After almost two years of snow, ice, and extreme cold, she was ready for those wild thunderstorms that started my meteorologist dream. Later on, after Elmira, News 13 in Orlando called and Turiano jumped at the opportunity of being closer to her family and the beach!

After six years in Florida, she was eager for a new challenge and knew Dallas would be that opportunity. Turiano is thrilled and ready to be a part of the Dallas community. She had had family in Dallas for many years and she’s always felt that this great city was like a second home.

When she’s not working, fitness and health play a major role in her life. Turiano has recently become a yogi and she loves any kind of fitness class that gets the blood pumping. Being of Italian descent, she loves to cook and learn about different foods in other cultures. She also is a big sports fan cheering on her Alma Mater the Nittany Lions and America’s Team the Dallas Cowboys.
