Andrew Shipley Biography

Andrew Shipley is an American meteorologist who has been working for WFTX as the weekend PM meteorologist with the Fox 4 Weather Team since joining the station in November 2021. Previously, he worked for CBS 4 Rio Grande Valley as a meteorologist.

Shipley joined the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, in 2011, when he finished his education at Timber Creek Regional High School. In 2015, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and a Communications minor. During college, he served as a student-athlete, running division II track and field.

Shipley works for WFTX as the weekend PM meteorologist with the Fox 4 Weather Team. He started his forecasting career in high school, where he broadcasted the big Nor’easters, winter blizzards, and frequent hurricanes affecting the Northeast. In 2004, he witnessed Hurricane Charley impacting Southwest Florida while he was visiting the region. Witnessing the power of the hurricane inspired some of his interest in weather.

Shipley first experienced broadcast meteorology during his internship at WESH in Orlando. Next, he briefly freelanced as a weather producer for ABC’s World News Tonight in New York. He first appeared on screen in Rapid City, while working as the morning meteorologist for KNBN. Two years later, he relocated to Eugene, where he continued as a morning meteorologist at KEZI. After spending a few years on the west coast, he relocated to the Rio Grande Valley, where he served KVEO as the weekend meteorologist.
