Karapetyan works for FOX11 Los Angeles where she serves the station as a Co-Anchor for Good Day Philadelphia. There, she co-anchors the morning news from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. alongside Tony McEwing. Prior to joining the FOX 11 News team, she was working for KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon where she was serving the station as a general assignment reporter and fill-in host.
Previously, she also worked for KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls where she was serving the station as a producer, anchor, and reporter. She kick-started her journalism career working as an intern for KABC-TV in Los Angeles and KFI 640 AM radio in Burbank. Her interest in journalism was sparked when she went back for a summer visit o Armenia. She then decided to spend her time there, not by being a tourist but by exploring to see what everyday life was like for the majority.

She was raised in the Palos Verdes States by her parents alongside her younger sister who happens to be a lawyer by profession. As a family, they moved to the United States with her family when she was about seven years old and was raised in Palos Verdes Estate, California. The family moved to the United States after a devastating earthquake, a brewing conflict with Azerbaijan, and the demise of the Soviet Union.
Karapetyan witnessed the 1988 Armenian earthquake which left her native city devastated. In an article written following the 17th March 2014 earthquake in Los Angeles, she wrote that every time they get a shaker in Southern California, she quickly had a flashback to her childhood. This ethnic conflict with Azerbaijan intensified as the Soviet Union was on its way to collapse. It is these hardships that made her family immigrate to the United States in the year 1990.

Karapetyan is married to her husband, Amir Yousef. The duo first met through their friends in their hometown Palos Verdes Estates. The duo started their romantic relationship after Araksya went to New York to attend college. They tied the knot on the 2nd of March 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
As a result of their diverse cultural background, they made many compromises at their wedding. The duo is proud parents to their two daughters Sevan Yousefi, who was born on the 6th of June 2016, and Sona Yousefi who was born on the 23rd of April 2019.
