Armando Barry Biography
Armando Barry is an American journalist working for WYMT as the sports director since August 2024. He joined the station in June 2023 as a sports anchor and reporter. Previously, he worked as a news intern at KCEN in Waco, Texas for 2 years.

Barry joined the University of North Texas in Denton in August 2019 when he finished his studies at Waco High School. In May 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor Of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism. He first stepped in front of the camera on campus when he became a member of the student-run campus news station, North Texas Television.
During his four years of college, he traveled all over the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex as North Texas Television’s sports anchor and reporter. Additionally, he held several other positions around the newsroom. In DFW, he honed his skills working freelance on high school sidelines for 3 years as a sideline reporter for Game On Sports, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, and Friday Night Glory.
As a sideline reporter, Barry got to interview multiple highly touted student-athletes before starting their college and professional careers including Utah Jazz’s Keynote George at iSchool of Lewisville and ex-Kentucky Wildcat and now Oklahoma City Thunder Cason Wallace at Richardson High School.

Barry has worked for WYMT as the sports director since August 2024. Upon joining the station, he first worked as a sports anchor and reporter. He found his love for sports by watching the NBA Finals on his mother’s couch and playing basketball at the YMCA basketball court across the street from his house. He is excited to know new people from the sidelines and tell the stories of Eastern Kentucky athletes.
