Auyana Aird Biography

Auyana Aird is an American journalist working for KYTX as a multiskilled journalist since joining the station in April 2023. Previously, she worked as a production intern at FOX Sports in Charlotte, North Carolina for nearly 2 years.

Auyana Aird Education

Aird joined the University of Houston in August 2021 when she finished her studies at Duncanville High School. In December 2023, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. During her time in college, she re-established the UH National Association of Black Journalists, serving as its president from 2022 to 2023. Further, she won a scholarship from the Houston chapter Association of Black Journalists Sneaker Gala.

Aird worked as a panelist for the university’s Diversity and Inclusion MLK Celebration event. In this role, she interviewed Dr. Yusef Salaam, a member of the Exonerated Five, on the theme “Keeping the Dream Alive: A Call to Action.” Additionally, she worked as a sports and news reporter and anchor leader for Coog TV, the student TV station. Moreover, she was production leader for the sports show Coogs Talk.

Aird interned at FOX Sports in Charlotte, North Carolina, Houston Public Media, and the University of Houston Athletics communications department. In 2023, she won the University of Houston Homecoming Queen with the slogan “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.” That same year, she received a scholarship of the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication Award.

Aird works for KYTX as a multiskilled journalist. Further, she works as a co-host for a podcast alongside two of her friends, Take 3, that started with UH radio. She has hosted and interviewed professional boxers, news anchors, and Olympians for a show that airs in Houston and On Demand through the University of Houston Jack J. Valenti School of Communication.

Aird serves as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. During her time there, she has held several roles, including service chair and co-chair of the advocate for social justice initiative. She is happy and grateful to be a part of the CBS19 team and thrilled to share the stories of East Texas.
