Barbara Gibbs is an American Anchor/Reporter working for ABC11 as a news anchor She has been working for the station since joining in 2001.

Gibbs serves at ABC11 as the co-anchor of the morning and noon newscasts alongside Amber Rupinta, John Clark, and Meteorologist Don Schwenneker. She has also won several awards including an Emmy Award for her special coverage of the three homeless men in Raleigh called “Homeless Singers.” In addition to that, she earned an Emmy nomination for the coverage of her special feature called “Barbara Gibbs’ Little Valentine.”

Gibbs has also gone to other countries and states including her trip to New York City alongside a Durham breast cancer survivor to meet Robin Roberts (“Good Morning America’s” anchor). In addition to that, she also enclosed a story about a young mother who survived a double-lung transplant and gave birth to cystic fibrosis.

Gibbs is also very active when it comes to helping out in her community and participates with local golfers in the “Jimmy V Jr Celebrity Golf Classic.” In 2022, she volunteered and donated to quite a number of fundraising events including Building Together Ministries, the MDA, and the American Cancer Society.

Gibbs went to Auburn University where she attained her BA degree in journalism (PR) and a minor in sociology. Prior to joining ABC 11, she worked at WTVQ (Lexington, KY) where she served as the morning anchor/reporter. She also spent some time working at WSLS-TV (Roanoke, Virginia) where she served as a co-anchor of the 6/11 pm shows.
